I think the challenge is really that the sorts of people who are drawn to create twine stories are writers, and that those writers really want people to experience all of their writing, and also they don't believe in multiple playthroughs. I'm not sure if it can actually make games, but it certainly seems like it could, if only someone cared enough to put a game into it. I am generally learning that Twine is a tool by which people refuse to make games. I will add that this was barely a game at all, though it shamelessly and intentionally stole from gaming tropes. Maybe if Howling Dogs had a coherent introduction, or at least one that felt familiar, I'd have cared more about it. I can't remember the last time that I looked at a link and thought "This is something that I'm going to hate myself for clicking, but I would also hate myself more for not clicking." Damn it now I have to click it.Įdit: This was much more interesting to me than Howling Dogs, probably because by the time that I realized it was telling the same story, I was already hooked.
